Update

Hey guys, normally I'd be posting about the upcoming Huzzah RTT but I've made a decision. In the next few months I'm going to close this blog and only post on the Huzzah Google Group.

If you'd like to keep up with all things Huzzah I highly encourage you to join the group!

As to my ramblings you can already find those up on Rogue Trader Gaming. But like this blog I haven't posted in a while.

So that's it! This blog had a good run and a nice evolution if I do say so myself. I'll probably download it for posterity sakes or even just leave it up. But I will stop posting on here.

NOVA Open SEPTEMBER 1ST - 4TH, 2016

Hey guys, been meaning to promote this for a while but I haven't had time until now to do it.

With that being said I want to encourage you guys to come on out to the NOVA Open that's happening in about 6 weeks! That's right we're almost there!

Now I highly suggest you sign up for the GT, I'll be the Co-Lead for the GT again and its always a blast! If you haven't been to a GT I highly recommend this one. Good people and good location!

We have also been getting a lot of questions asking if we're going to be using the GW FAQ/Errata that is available on GW's Warhammer 40k Facebook Page.  I just wanted to restate that if they're officially available on their website AND it's released 30 days before the event (So before or on August 2nd) then NOVA will be using them. Until then we'll continue to use our FAQ.

Huzzah Hobbies Road to the NOVA Open 2016 - BRACKETS ARE DONE!

Hey guys just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the brackets are made and you should have received an email with a link to them. If you haven't you need to get in contact with me ASAP!

And as I did last year here's this year's League Map. We had  46 people sign up for this! That's amazing!

That is a lot of 40k that's going to be played in the upcoming weeks!

Now if you're wondering how I do brackets I try to base them off location as much as possible, but I work on the brackets from "outside, in." Which means I take the farthest outside people and work my way in. Its why there are 3 pins so close to each other each in a different bracket. Its unfortunate, but sometimes it works out like that. 

So the league starts TODAY! Which means you have until May 15th to get your first round game in, which should be Crusade.

Rogue Trader Gaming

Hey Guys, its been awhile since I posted anything non event related, so you have been warned!

With that being said I wanted to let you all know that I've made a new blog called Rogue Trader Gaming. What is it? Well it's a place for me to post battle reports and other gaming related stuff. Mainly I thought elphilo battle reports would sound lame so I came up with a new name!

I've already got a battle report up there and I have another one that I just need to edit. I'll probably be posting up my LVO experience up there as well.

But the real questions is, what does it mean for this blog? Nothing. I'll still continue to post up Huzzahs' event's information up here so you won't have to subscribe to anything new to be kept informed. I just wanted to let you all know that I've made a new one for more gaming related stuff.

NOVA Open 2016

Hey Guys I just wanted to let you know that tonight (2/1/2016) at 8pm registration for the NOVA Open happens!

What is the NOVA Open?
The NOVA Open is a Washington, DC area Tabletop Wargaming Convention with a strong focus on organized play, charity, hobby seminars, and social connection. 1,200 gamers attended in 2015.
2016 will be the 7th year of the NOVA Open, whose origins lie in a 32-person outdoor charity BBQ tournament held in 2009 in Springfield, VA.
The NOVA's legacy events include a 256-slot Warhammer 40,000 GT, but it now hosts 100+ player events in X-Wing, Warmachine, Malifaux, and large organized play tracks in numerous other game systems.
NOVA hosts some of the world's best hobby instructors - Justin McCoy of Secret Weapon Miniatures, Roman and Raffa of Massive Voodoo, Jessica Rich of Brush Mistress, Caleb Wissenback, and many more. Seminars are offered all day, every day of the con, and include new 4-hour hands-on workshops as of 2016.
NOVA partners with a sister organization, a formal 501(c)(3) charitable foundation known as the NOVA Open Charitable Foundation to raise funds and awareness in fighting critical causes around the world. We especially focus on leveraging the compassion of fellow wargamers and hobbyists to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and the Fisher House Foundation. We primarily achieve this through an international consortium of brilliant miniature figure artists who collaborate to create world-class pieces of miniature art, including full armies, display boards, and individual show pieces. These are raffled and auctioned off through a combination of world-wide online raffles and at-NOVA raffles and silent auctions. Entering its 4th year, the NOCF raised over $25,000 for charity in 2015.

Huzzah Hobbies Hammer in the New Year 2016 - POSTPONED!

Hey Guys I just wanted to say with heavy heart that due to the snow we're going to be postponing Hammer in the New Year to February 27-28 2016. Here is the email I just sent out to people:

Hey I just wanted to let you know that we have come to a decision about the snow this weekend. We're going to postpone Hammer in the New Year to Feb. 27-28th.

If you can't make that date let me know and I'll get a refund for you. Hopefully you can make it!

I'd like to apologize as well. I know we all had our hopes up for some awesome gaming this weekend and the snow had to screw it all up!

But I hope to hear you'll be able to make it!

Huzzah Hobbies Hammer in the New Year 2016 - Snow!

So I already sent this to the attendees but I wanted to start posting this around just in case they missed the email! 

Hey I just wanted to let you know that we're following closely the potential snowstorm that's going to hit our area this weekend. Right now we're hoping that it won't be bad enough to cause more than a one hour delay on Saturday. But we are going to be playing this one by ear. Huzzah is trying to figure out a potential make up date if we do have to cancel the event. 

Once I know for sure what's going on you will be the first to know!

Huzzah Hobbies Hammer in the New Year - WE'RE FULL! Waiting list sign ups are now available!

That's right! As of  9:23 PM of January 2, we are full! This is awesome! Thank you guys so much for signing up! This is going to be a great event and I can't wait to see you all that weekend!

We'll be going down the list in a first come first serve basis. Google Forms does a time stamp when you sign up so that's how we'll be determining that priority. So sign up quick! You could also try your luck day of to see if we have any day of drops, we'll continue using that priority list as well!

Man we're 20 days out now and we're already full. This is awesome! I can't wait to see who takes The Hammer home!

Huzzah Hobbies' Hammer in the New Year - NEW YEAR UPDATE

Hey Everyone! First I wanted to say that I hope you all had an enjoyable Holidays and had a Happy New Year!

So with the event looming ever closer (21 days!) I just wanted to post and say that as of today we have 20 people signed  up, so that means only 12 more slots are left!
